So much here, thanks! I’m up for this challenge. I didn’t realise we could make pages, that’s so helpful.

Yes great for contents pages or for a specific sales page or resources page. Published without going out to app or email. ✨

Thanks so much for this Claire. I'm new to Substack and would like tabs to Latest, Top and Discussion on my homepage, similiar to how "Astrology with Alice" has them. Do you know how to configure my publication to achieve this? I have tried Magazine and Newspaper layouts, but can't work out how to get these tabs/links. Thank you for any help you can give! https://alicebell.substack.com/

Hey Grace - are you using ‘groups’?

No, I'm not using groups. Thanks.

I think that’s what you need. If you search my a-z and look for home page set up the tutorials should be in there.

Thank you Claire, I discovered it's not having groups, but to my surprise when I changed my layout to "Feature", with NO advanced layout, those tabs on the home-page appeared, however I want more than one post featured (so I'm using Magazine layout).

I write about education--both broadly, and more specifically to U.S. history teachers. If I want to offer templates and files for lesson materials/handout specifically to that narrow niche of teachers, would you recommend a page with links? Or a section that doesn't get emailed out in which each post would be really just a brief explanation with a link to a lesson handout?

A page with links I think… there are a few creative ways but a page isn’t date specific so I think a better option.

This whole sereis has been so helpful. Finally re-organised the homepage. I've retagged every post and tidied the sections from 13 to 7 including archives, podcast, notes and about and a static page about all my work. My web browser decided to have a meltdown mid-way so that the Substack website completely garbled with all the images on top of one another as I worked (I'm away from home but husband managed to fix it long distance - phew.) Now to lie down in a darkened room. :)

Thank you so much for the advice. I have worked on three of the four weeks so far and I smile more now when I look at both of my publications.

This is great. An additional hint: Make sure your most RECENT post is obvious. I hate searching for your FAVORITE post. What do I care what you like? I want to see today

Ahh yes - I just use the archive now as my brain is too tired to search! What would you do?

I go to the archive right away too. But I wish I didn't have to. A lot of this is just personal preference, but I want to read posts, in sequence. One additional point. As a 'stacker I don't "trick" up my site with colors and images. I want my posts to be read easily and cleanly, especially on a phone. I'm assuming A LOT of our work is read that way. Always be aware of what you ask of a reader.

Thank you for all the pieces of advice!! <3

I have worked on it a lot today, but still not happy with it. I feel something is missing. If anyone has a bit of time to have a look and give some advice.. I'll be eternally grateful! thank you x

Juts took a quick look it's VERY beautiful and inviting - you should be proud and know it's always a work in progress because as we write and get to know our readers there are other ways to organise our posts and their time. Happy weekend to you. ✨

It makes so much sense thank you! I could always switch and make it all Italian with an English session, when I’ll have reached more Italian speakers which is my goal anyway 🥰 so little advice is available for Italians at the moment !!

Thank you again and happy we to you too! ✨

You're so welcome and this week it's a big zoom out so it might take a while to figure out and you can change it up as you breathe life into your Substack Bonnie.
