Thank you for sharing both 🙏❤️ really interesting chat
How do we learn how to play the game? 😅 I think this is where I feel stuck. Because lots of people are there to teach you but everyone is saying different things so who do you listen to? And the game seems to change really quickly. So then how often do you have to relearn how to play the game? 😂
LOVE this question and I think Kat will answer differently.
For me, I play an embodied game with playful creative tweaks. That is to say I try and share from a place that feels real AND offers value and inspiration on Instagram. My current strategy is to get people over here tbh!
My business doesn’t reply on socials so it’s easy for me to say that in a way.
It’s all built around email marketing so really Instagram and Substack notes is just part of a creative strategy that feels good to me in that season… and one I’m happy to be playful within. Does that help? ✨💖
Kat is GREAT at creating reels that get picked up by the algorithm so she might have something to say there if that’s interesting to you for PPM Zoe?
Great question. The first bit I would suggest is to choose to learn and relearn, or not.
If you sit in the energy of being half in and half out it will exhaust you. Choosing to actively create content and learn can be liberating or choosing not to be that person can be liberating.
Next is following some accounts sharing tips.
Some things I do that are “playing the game”
- choosing trending audios which have been used under 10,000 times.
- making a reel under 7 seconds with a decent sentence/ phrase/ hook that grabs attention
Then provide context in the caption and elaborate.
I also make sure my videos are well lit and often have a face/person.
I don’t have to do these things obviously, but if I do, they always perform better/ which is why I make them in the first place
Those are super helpful tips that I can easily try ❤️
The reels where I’m making food definitely do better than any of my other ones 😅
I think in thinking about both yours and Claire’s reply, I just don’t much have the energy or inclination to keep learning or playing and maybe that is why it won’t be a big place for me to grow…
I feel like I went all in and learnt all the things and it worked for a few months and then it all changed and I didn’t care to figure it out again
I find it far too stressful if I peek under the curtain of algorithm chat or rules around what words you can and can’t say. It’s just not worth the time and energy for me.
Though people do find my work there and they do pay for things.
Perhaps we don’t have to even play the game or have a big following and that’s all okay too 🤷🏻♀️
