What I'm investing in to grow my Substack in 2024

Hi all,

I thought I’d just tell you where my head is for investments in this space for next year so that it could perhaps inspire your planning and thoughts about your own Substack space. I’m SO excited to be getting ready to spend time in a new year with you all! Thanks for being here and supporting my work.

8 Things I’m investing in for my Substack in 2024

1. Business development. I’ve been self employed since 2008. Honestly a lot of that time has been jumping from large cultural contract to large contract. Business development is so important to me. It’s also necessary if I want my business to continue to work. I always want to better understand how everything fits together for my personal, spiritual and business development and this is the person I work with for that.

2. Illustration partnerships - our threads for commissioning illustrators are STILL live and I’ve had no emails from illustrators 😢

   Adam Ming
   and I are developing this work for the long term and we’re so excited by the response so far. (link below).

3. Time in collaboration; this one won’t surprise you, collabs are my favourite and my best. Guest spots on podcasts, some print, some pop-ups. Co-creation, co-inspiration, life giving collabs!

   

4. Time with colleagues - I’ve LOVED working with

   and
   Russell Nohelty
   as Substack colleagues this year and I’m SO excited to be hosting a Substack event for
   Alnwick Story Fest
   in February - come!!?¹ I’m also going to book a call to talk about my Substack with
   Farrah Storr
   when she makes them live again! Can’t wait… did I tell you Substack was my special interest? Ok good!

5. Honing my membership spaces here on Sparkle and over

   Creatively Conscious
   served by all of your feedback. Yay!

6. Downtime, digital detoxes, phones in drawers and absolutely no screens - creating off line for the win. Travel! I’ll share how much and what I’ve planned in my calendar later!

7. Podcast set up and editing - I’ll not lie guys I feel behind with editing. I learnt it, I forgot bits, I have to pick it up again. BUT I will. I also really want to use my fancy mic instead of my apple plug ins because the sound will be better for you all and I need to NOT be scared of it. My plan for 2024 is to get a sponsor to pay for professional edits.

8. A new accountant - I can’t believe another year has gone by and I have to do my own accounts - oh save me and those stripe payments! 🙉
