Do you LOVE getting discounts? Do you save coupons and use them in store? I’ve learnt recently that some people will always buy on discounts.
Some people will only buy if something is discounted, but that’s not the full story.
As I like to say; there is nuance in EVERYTHING. I like discounts but when I am in a no spend mood discounts don’t get me out of that.
Before I share more about my experiment with Substack special offer coupons this year and why I used them, I wanted to share a mindset shift. One that was once hard for me and now is really easy;
If you email your subscribers, you will get unsubscribes especially if you email them when you are in the middle of ‘selling’ something. BUT guess what - This is also the time that you tend to bring in more paying customers… YAY!
You are safe to remind people about what you sell. Your value is not tethered to your subscriber numbers. We shouldn’t be trying to ‘keep’ subscribers, let that energy go just like they let themselves out when they’ve had enough or realised they are in the wrong place. 1
