Need help with tags and sections - very confusing. Should About page also be the hero post? Need help with what to say in all the various emails to people like when they subscribe for free or paid. Need help with next practices in general to get more laid subs. Thanks!!!!!
I'm a very eclectic writer. I need to know how to set up my homepage and honor all the different parts, sections and tags et cetera. Also the graphics.
Just found this Claire, defiintely need to create my 30 day challenge to start 6th May to 6th June I think without overwhelm yet taking action :-) big support and thanks Kim xx
I would like to start setting up my home page. I hardly know where or how to begin. I like tech, I like what it can do for writers, but I'm tech-challenged in spite of best efforts not to be.
I have no subscribe button. What did I miss and how do I sort it? And .. if I want to add in a newsletter - how? and … if I want to change my @ (one time only is allowed, I think) has anyone else done this and survived? I don’t want to lose my writing to date. Fear of lost words is a thing.
Hey Karen - this seems a few questions all at once - have you watched any of my masterclasses? If you want to come to the sparkle call on Monday I can help? Regarding subscribe button you pop those into your posts when you are in the post editor you'll find them top right in 'buttons' - here's a video to show you how - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DGRn-3Xpq1o&list=PLxH_TD-j6nOUOFxltrwW0-0dJ2lUxg7nJ&index=3
I just posted a note on this today. I started my Substack a year ago. I was so eager to just start writing that I came up with a quick logo from Canva. It's cute, but it doesn't really represent my writing very well. I want to create a newish brand on my page. I want to keep my name "The Knotty Cat Chronicles", but want my logo and headers to be more representive. I have several topics I write on and not sure where to go with it. I write personal essays of my creative processes (both written and visual), art journaling, my grief journey, and just general musings that I find myself curious about from time to time. I don't want any drastic changes, but a new logo would be a great start I think.
Thanks for being here Leslie! My motto was always create/ write first and faff later… I wonder knowing what you do now what journey you might like to take. Two years in and my session with Lauren linked above has taken me to so much depth of the essence of what I’m here to do and the visuals I started to research and create impacted my writing too! I wonder if you’re not sure on the logo perhaps pause until next week’s task which is out about page?
Another lovely (and quick) thing to do is write down all the words you associate with your publication and circle the ones that could provide building blocks for branding… ✨🙏
I like that idea of writing down words that I assoicate with. I'll definetely be here for the upcoming weeks. This little challenge was perfectly timed for me! Thanks for the advice.
We’ve started and my first post is scheduled for tomorrow at 12noon. Nothing to do until then except have a little look at your home page and make a mental list of what you’d like! ✨✨
Hi Claire, how to set up a new page would be good. Also in your last video you showed how to do a post, but not send it to everyone and what to tick if you want to be more discoverable. I could not find the “tabs”when looking this morning…could you do some slow instructions as these are all new to me. Thanks.
I've been meaning to ask you stuff about sections and tags for aaaages - currently have managed to set up TWO 'membership magic's in my navigation! and need to know how to get rid of one - and which is the best of the two to keep - it's where my membership posts are basically
and also, should I have a separate one for the selfish bookclub? It's part of membership but it is something that people have specifically joined for?
and also, how to order the page generally so you can choose, if this is possible, which posts go at the top? looking forward to a spring clean!
I would do a tag for selfish book club do you know how? .... in terms of deleting sections - in your settings search sections and find the rogue one and let it go....
So again in your settings there a place you can add to your navigation bar... you can let go of the section for sure... that will be no problem and just continue with tags... the only benefit really of a section is you can set it for paid only and have a little blurb at the top like this... https://sparkleon.substack.com/s/membership-sparkles
So when folks land on that URL there's an intro to what it is - I have found the clearer I can be about things the better and new people really don't understand Substack subs/ paid subs/ members etc. etc
yeah I was wondering - membership magic section has a nice intro and the tag section doesn't - which makes me want to keep the section and ditch the tagged bit - but you think other way round? also! I just set up a selfish book club tag and it's in navigation, hurrah! thanks :)
I have very little idea about substack yet but I'd love to give it a try! I've come off facebook and insta because I find it so difficult to handle social media and frankly don't feel good enticing other people to spend too much tome on it either.. so I'll come in as a completr novice and just will see where it leads me ! Thank you for the opportunity Claire!

I would do a tag for selfish book club do you know how? .... in terms of deleting sections - in your settings search sections and find the rogue one and let it go....
so if I continue to TAG membership magic, I can let go of the section?
I have set up a tag before so I'll figure that - not sure how I made it end up in the navigation though?!
So again in your settings there a place you can add to your navigation bar... you can let go of the section for sure... that will be no problem and just continue with tags... the only benefit really of a section is you can set it for paid only and have a little blurb at the top like this... https://sparkleon.substack.com/s/membership-sparkles

Hmmm very interesting. I'm thinking "in" for a try with a slow start since I'm currently moving. Intention, motivation... but lots of STRESS...
Moving house - yes go steady Joan - there's loads of time - all the resources will be here for you to refer back to...

You're welcome - let's take it slow and create here on your terms Sandra! ✨
Thanks Claire - 30 Days 🚀 🪄💚
