I’m excited to day dream and write more this month. The title keeps coming and going. I went to a huge flagship book shop in our capital city and got all inspired… it’s also intimidating but I have you guys. 🤗
February has been ok but went by in a flash - so I’m still finishing off chapter 2. I got a bit stuck on how to make something happen naturally but I’ve got through that but now and over 4000 words in. Another session or two and I’ll have finished and move on to chapter 3 for March :)
Despite February feeling even shorter than it actually was - the two weeks of school holidays in France are always hard on my writing - I managed to write and publish a 'second chapter' in my memoir-like exploration. And I think it helped me connect some dots and make progress on where I want my newsletter to go from an editorial perspective. So that's a win-win!
I haven’t written a thing for my book this year, but, thanks to a writing class that I’m taking, I’m finally starting to see a light in the distance.
Writing in class has been helping me see that the process of moving through the first difficult months of my grief will feature in my book in the future. We will see where it goes!
I’m editing my book. I write about the importance of emotional connection for well-being, grief recovery, trauma healing and suicide prevention. I write about barriers that make emotional connection in modern-day living difficult and how to overcome these from my professional and lived experience.
This month I write about the important role of how we mother that helps and hinders emotional connection. I explore this from my personal experience as well as my professional experience as an NCT breastfeeding counsellor running ante-natal classes and family groups for 10 years.
This is the most difficult chapter to write. There’s shame to release as I write about my ‘Mother Hunger’. A term that validates this feeling succinctly by the author Kelly McDaniel that persists at age 58! It feels extra emotional writing this as it’s Mother’s Day on Sunday.
Every month I share a summary of my current chapter on my Substack as a Tuesday Trauma Healing With Tate newsletter/ post as it keeps me accountable to my book writing as I need to self-publish.
I may need some extra support to publish next month’s newsletter on Tuesday, 8th April on mothering as it’s challenging xx
I’m trying to be flexible with my days to fit in my work and Substack etc but I think I need some set times to focus on writing. I think that would help me feel back on track.
I can’t seem to log in at the website so I’ll post it here, awfully late but I didn’t do much in February writing wise so there you go. That said, I spent a lovely few hours in the tentative spring sun today with my notebook, jotting down stuff for my story so that’s something… but maybe I should have left that to the post for March😊 happy writing all Cx
I am finally addressing the unfinished short story, and its challenging. i have feedback from a fellow writer on where to set this old false-start of a story right. I feel overwhelmed by it at the moment. It will require a full rewrite of the 3K words into it so far.
I am participating in the IWD post this week and I have a juicy list of keywords of a meditation on primordial waters of the siren song. I am very excited to share this with everyone.
My advanced tarot series is taking off big time. I have at least 3 topics for future months in the notebook. Including one special request for elemental dignitaries.
Erica! It sounds like you are really weaving a web here... how brilliant. I am looking forward to catching up with your Siren Song piece. I've been away and had a total break through on my book.

What a great idea to gain inspiration by going to a book shop!

I also felt like February went by in a flash. So great that you’re using this to help you stay accountable. 👏
That is such good going! Well done. I need to go some to get chapter three done but I will!

That’s a huge win!
It definitely is hard to write when our usual schedules and routines are disrupted. Well done on getting another piece published!
Thank you Mika!

This sounds really fascinating. I’m so glad you’re willing to delve into such a sensitive topic in order to help others. xx
I hope you have a lovely tea next to you as you write it and are extra gentle with yourself this month. 💕
Thank you
Yes, definitely 😊. I’ll have lots of lovely hot tea to keep me going.
Xx
Oh dear - March is not going so well for my fiction. I may have some time this week to catch up a little - I will have to make time!
What would be the most exciting way for you to “feel” back on track?

How lovely to soak up that sun and get the creative juices going. I love that! Good luck for March!
