I struggle to understand the platform changes around recommendations too. Perhaps the growth was excessive, but it gave us the chance to reach new readers and invite them into our creative world. Now that it is dwindling, I find myself considering going off platform more, which I don't prefer in general.
I never felt that the readers coming via recommendations were "low quality" or less likely to engage. If anything, Notes has seemed to drive growth with low engagement on my articles.
I wanted to drop in and just say that I need to be careful not to overload myself here on Substack . There are so, so many amazing people here, but I cannot possibly subscribe and be actively reading everyone. I choosevwisely and appreciate people like you who give me the option to listen whilst I do other things. Thank you 😊
Yes we get to be discerning - you can always subscribe to the podcast in apple or spotify and it won't clog up your inbox. Thanks for letting me know. xx
