“The last 10-20 years of the internet has been dominated by aggregators - a model that has generated enormous wealth and power. The next generation will be about taking the best of the aggregation era and applying it to a model that gives writers and creators true ownership and greater financial rewards. I think this shift will reshape the media economy, and the society we live in.”
Hi Sparklers!
There’s a little known app that once changed everyone’s lives… the timeline is unimportant but it really happened.
I saw it in front of my eyes. Perhaps you did too?
After this technicolor explosion came fall out and unexpected change, battles and feelings of deflation.
All the while in search of the original magic…
… Human connection…
In it’s place, the opportunity to star in our own movie, to film mundane parts of our lives
To set things up just so so the world reflected back was one we better accepted?
A fall out, a toxicity, a place for art and self expression, a place with potential.
A place to leave, a place to stay, a place to burn it all down…
Let’s talk about our heart song?
I have listened to the heart song and I have watched the dance of creators…
…falling in
and out
…of love with
…since I too started sharing snippets of my world there in 2017.
There’s something of a dismissal of whether or not we should stay, leave or detox from the instagram app.
I’ve watched folks be ALL IN on Substack and leave to ‘go back’ to instagram - happy there.
I’ve watched folks grow thriving creative practises and newsletter businesses here while balancing their interaction on the app.
I’ve watched folks pour endless words of sophistication and connection into instagram and launch best selling Substacks with readers/ fans(?)
People who have hopped right over and now manage both seamlessly leaning into what they both do for their business.
I’ve heard them say they love both spaces and deliver to an audience on both.
It’s all possible.
Come to class - £10 special UNTIL midnight!
On 16 June at 5pm (UK time), I’m holding a webinar where I will model how to translate instagram posts into a Substack publication.
I’ll show you how to get past the biggest block of ‘feeling’ set up on Substack and ready show you how easy it is to create from content you already have. Years and years of content probably?
I’ve got live examples to walk you through from some willing volunteers - I can’t wait!!
For now…
Drop your (clickable) Instagram URL in the comments and a few words about who you are in the world - let’s meet here and chat about the song and dance we have deciding how much time to spend on the instagram app?!
I’ll go first and share a couple of my faves to follow there too.
Sending sparkles,
Claire
