WELCOME to
12 Chapters Club.
✨
This month, your 12 Chapters prompt is;
To look forward to your first reader.
We still have a few months to go and I find it helpful to visualise the end point. Perhaps the book will be shorter than you expected, perhaps it won’t quite be as you thought? Let us know what you see?
I'm looking forward to hearing from you below… the chat threads each month will be hosted here on Substack.
TELL us (in the comments) - how did you get on last month, how’s your book shaping up?
Don’t forget to introduce yourself too so we can keep getting to know each other.
If you are publishing some of your book as newsletters or blogs here, tag me and I’ll share in Notes.
Sending sparkles for your month ahead. I'll write again 5 days before the end of the month as a reminder. This email will come from outside of Substack so make sure you are signed up to receive those here.
Let's write books!!

P.S - Our end of year meet up is scheduled. Here’s the link to add to your calendar.
Get your own 12 Chapters Badge! You can add it to any posts you publish here… some people are building both their book and publishing to get audience feedback.
PS - if you’ve not yet introduced yourself, you can do that here, the monthly threads close on the last day of the month. If you want to receive reminder emails for 12 Chapters Club you need to sign up for free here.
Hello! I've been away for a few months because I didn't know where I was going, but in May I got super clear on that and in June I got two chapters drafted and think Chapter 3 will come quickly. They're not yet beautiful but they are becoming my outside of my head book :)
I honestly have been enjoying writing my novel more regularly that I am just upping the time I spend on it. Today I've reassessed where I have got to and started chapter 6. It feels so good to be exploring these characters and letting them guide me to tell their story. Yesterday it occurred to me that I should probably share some of this with another human to get some feedback - though that still feels quite scary and I will have to choose my human carefully. I do want honest feedback, but I'd like it to be delivered with kindness! I really hope this novel will be good enough to publish eventually - and that the full story will reveal itself as I reach the halfway point - because things were only loosely planned beyond that. I already know I will likely want to write this as a trilogy. So yes, I am keen to move things along at a pace now.
Feeling very inspired and in my element - at last. I only hope that my writing lives up to what I want it to be.
