How are you going to show up to feel safe into your online expansion?
The sky is literally the limit. ‘Girl Next Door’ - Jesse Jean ‘just’ did a $1.2million launch through her instagram. She’s brilliant, talented, she’s done the reps but also she spoke to a NEED - because creators want to learn how to talk to camera like her. They want to understand the psychology of going from 0-300k followers in 6 months -no one can teach that except her.

I’m obsessed with the work of expansion online because it’s fascinating.
I’m less hungry for it than I was because my motivation is always - if people need this, the universe will find a way and I don’t want to make 1000s of followers my full time job.
It’s easy to look at writers, creators, people we follow online and think ahhh it’s ‘easy for them.’… I can guarantee I’ve spoken to everyone at EVERY level of visibility (yes including famous people) and it might look easy but what is easy and easeful are two different things…
We all go through the same fight, fawn, freeze and contract when it comes to visibility.
Shall I give you a brief timeline of my visibility online?
2005 - 2020 - hid in the shadows - behind the scene, back stage, creative producing - I might film the odd shadow, been in the press or snap a selfie but there was very little of that associated with my work! I was fine with that…had a secret blog I didn’t share with anyone.
2017 - Started my newsletter in mailchimp about seasonal living, creativity and wellbeing… sign ups were slow but I didn’t mind.
2019 - commissioned new professional pics - I’m not really looking at the camera in any of them. They are beautiful but people can’t see who I am!
2020 - found @leonie_dawson on instagram and immediately signed up for one of her courses - finally a refreshing take on how to do online biz without carefully curated pics - sharing your authentic self in nervous system safe ways.
2021- worked on a curated art project for a year that showed my perspective as a mother with @sarahdshotts - got curious within our 400 day container - took a selfie or two and saw what I look like when I’m not smiling for the camera!! https://sarahshotts.com/the-magic-mundane/
2023/24/25 - started a video podcast, lots of photos of me on my website, in my long form content, newsletters- my business blew up. I write to over 20k people through Substack and email and sometimes have thousands of views on my content on instagram… sometimes…
2026 - I’m working with instagram trial reels to grow my followers here ahead of my book coming out. Also I love a personal challenge. Listened hard to the wonder that is @johuttonyoga in a wonderful guest class inside my membership - top takeaway - do what you say, say what you do and get yourself up cringe mountain!!
Met @lens.and.she over there on instagram and was mesmerised by the way she taught the psychology and nervous system work of visibility.
Here and Now - snap a quick selfie style b roll video at the beach, on a dog walk, out and about without thinking about it - use her method to share my story on trial reels. Pop one of my many beautiful photos with my writing so you know who I am.
